Call transcription

Call transcription: turn a recorded call into text

Hushscript does call transcription after the call ends. Add the recording of a phone, conference or sales call, preview up to 5 minutes of a supported file, then turn the whole call into an editable transcript with speaker labels and timestamps. Nothing taps your phone line or joins the call, and Hushscript removes its transcription audio after processing.

How it works

  1. 01

Get a recording you may use

Use the file from your call recorder, your phone's own recorder where it has one, or a conference platform's saved recording. Hushscript does not record calls for you.

  2. 02

    Preview up to 5 minutes

Add the file and check the text and the automatic speaker labels before creating an account. The preview reads M4A, AAC, MP3, WAV, OGG, Opus and FLAC, and uses automatic language detection. AMR, 3GP and WMA recordings are transcribed in the app after sign-in.

  3. 03

    Transcribe the whole call

Sign in, set the language and speaker options, and get the full call as editable, timecoded text you can export.

Hushscript removes its transcription audio after processing, never trains on your recordings, and encrypts stored transcripts at rest.

Call transcription starts with a recording. Hushscript takes the audio file of a phone call, a conference call or a sales call and returns a transcript you can read, search and correct. It does not connect to your phone system, so there is nothing to approve and nothing for the other person to notice joining.

Phone call transcription from a recording

Get the recording, add it on this page, and preview up to 5 minutes before creating an account. The preview reads M4A, AAC, MP3, WAV, OGG, Opus and FLAC; for AMR, 3GP and WMA recordings, select Open the Hushscript app and sign in. The preview shows speaker-labeled text from your own file. To transcribe the whole call, sign in, pick the language and speaker options, and review the editable, timecoded result in the browser.

For the legal side of recording and the ways to capture both voices, see how to transcribe a phone call recording.

Recording formats Hushscript accepts

Call recorders and phones save audio in different formats. Hushscript accepts MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, Opus, AMR, 3GP, WMA, and FLAC audio, plus common video files such as MP4 and MOV. Supported audio can upload unchanged. The no-account preview reads M4A, AAC, MP3, WAV, OGG, Opus and FLAC; AMR, 3GP and WMA recordings are transcribed in the app after sign-in. A video file stays on your device while the browser prepares its audio track, and only that prepared audio is sent for recognition. Recordings can run up to 10 hours.

Conference call and video call transcription

A conference call transcript works the same way: save the platform’s recording, then add it. Hushscript does not join the meeting or read your calendar. Pages for specific platforms cover their recording steps: Zoom transcription, Google Meet transcription, and Microsoft Teams transcription. For a general recorded meeting, see meeting transcription.

Sales call transcription and notes

A recorded sales call becomes text you can search for a price, a date or a promise. Speaker labels separate your side from the prospect’s, and timestamps point back to the exact moment. Optional Insights can draft a summary, action items, decisions, open questions, and chapters from the transcript. The first Insights generation per transcript is free; regenerating costs minutes. Treat these as drafts and check them against the audio.

Speaker labels for a two-sided call

Speaker detection adds Speaker A and Speaker B at no extra minute cost across the supported transcription languages. Rename a speaker once and every line updates. If the recorder captured only one side, the transcript has one voice to label. A recording with each person on a separate channel can use multichannel handling, which bills each channel, so a two-channel file counts twice. For solo audio, turn speaker detection off.

What Hushscript does not do for calls

Hushscript does not record calls, dial numbers, tap a line, or transcribe a call while it happens. It has no CRM sync, call scoring, or contact-center dashboard. It is an upload-based transcription service. If you need those, you need a different kind of tool.

You need the right to use the recording. Follow the recording laws and workplace policies that apply to the call.

Privacy for call recordings

Calls often hold names, numbers and agreements. Hushscript removes its transcription audio after processing, never trains models on your recordings, and encrypts the transcript content, titles, speaker names, and Insights it stores. Set auto-delete after 7, 30, 90, or 365 days. Private mode saves no transcript to your account; it does not support translation or Insights. The detail is on private transcription.

Call transcription cost

The 5-minute preview needs no account, and eligible accounts get 30 free minutes once, after card verification or with a first purchase. After that, personal accounts use prepaid minutes without a subscription: packs run from $1.99 for 45 minutes to $49.99 for 6,000. On the largest pack an hour of calls uses about $0.50. Translation targets and later Insights regeneration use additional minutes. See pay-as-you-go transcription for the full ladder.

Why Hushscript

Works on the file you already have

No phone system, calendar or meeting bot to connect, and no call to notice a bot joining. Hushscript works from the recording after the call.

Both sides labeled

When both voices are in one file, speaker detection marks who spoke and adds no minutes. Rename a label once and every line updates.

Retention is yours

Hushscript removes its transcription audio after processing, never trains on your calls, and encrypts what it stores. Set auto-delete after 7, 30, 90, or 365 days, or use private mode to save no transcript.

Frequently asked questions

How does call transcription work?

You record the call with a tool you are allowed to use, then add the audio file to Hushscript. Speech recognition turns it into a speaker-labeled, timecoded transcript you can edit and export. The work happens after the call, on a file.

Can Hushscript transcribe a phone call?

Yes, from a recording. Phone call transcription here means a saved audio file of the call. Hushscript does not dial, record, listen to, or connect to a phone line, so there is no live transcript while you talk.

Which call recording formats work?

Hushscript accepts MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, Opus, AMR, 3GP, WMA, and FLAC audio, and common video files such as MP4. You do not need to convert a call recording first. The no-account preview reads M4A, AAC, MP3, WAV, OGG, Opus and FLAC; AMR, 3GP and WMA recordings are transcribed in the app after sign-in. If a file is refused, the app tells you the format is not supported.

How do I get a recording of both sides of a call?

Some iPhone and Android phones have a call-recording control in the Phone app. Availability, recording rules and consent vary by country and device, so check what applies to you; the guide to transcribing a phone call recording covers the options. Conference platforms record on eligible accounts. Check that the file holds both voices before you rely on it.

Can the transcript tell the two speakers apart?

Yes. When both sides are in one file, speaker detection labels them Speaker A and Speaker B at no extra minute cost. You can rename speakers, reassign a turn, and split or merge turns. If each person is on a separate channel, multichannel handling keeps them apart and bills each channel.

Is it legal to record and transcribe a call?

It depends on where you and the other person are. Some places need only your consent to record a call you are part of, others need every party to agree. Check the rule that applies to you. This page is not legal advice.

Can I transcribe a conference call or a video call?

Yes, if you have the recording. Add the MP4 or audio file the platform saved. A video file stays on your device while your browser prepares its audio, and only the prepared audio is sent for recognition.

Can I use it for sales call transcription?

Yes, on recorded sales calls. You get speaker labels, timestamps, and exports. After transcription, optional Insights can draft a summary, action items, decisions, and open questions, and the first Insights generation for a transcript is free. Hushscript has no CRM sync.

Is Hushscript call center transcription software?

No. It transcribes recordings you add. It has no live monitoring, agent scoring, call analytics dashboard, or phone-system link. You can stage several files and start them together, and developers can send recorded audio through the public speech to text API.

Is call transcription free?

The 5-minute preview needs no account. After sign-in, eligible accounts get 30 free minutes once, after card verification or with a first purchase. After that, personal accounts use prepaid minutes with no subscription. Minutes are counted by the length of the audio.

How accurate is a transcript of phone audio?

Phone and VoIP audio is compressed, and overlapping speech blurs speaker boundaries, so expect more errors than on a studio recording. The transcript is automated with no human review. Check names, numbers, and agreed terms against the audio.

Can I transcribe a voicemail or an earnings call?

Yes, as long as you have the audio file. A voicemail you saved works like any recording. For a public call, add the audio file or a shareable audio link; the transcript is automated and not a verified record.

Is my call recording kept private?

Hushscript removes its transcription audio after processing, never trains models on your recordings, and encrypts the transcript content, titles, and speaker names it stores. You set how long a transcript stays, or use private mode to save none.
