Text compare: line-by-line diff, online
Paste an original and a changed version to see which lines stayed, were removed or were added. This free online text compare tool runs in your browser, with no account or upload.
Comparison result
Why is this free? Hushscript runs it entirely in your browser. No server processes your file, so there's nothing to charge for.
How to compare two pieces of text
Paste the earlier version into Original text and the revision into Changed text. Select Compare text to see the line diff: unchanged lines remain plain, removed lines have a minus sign, and added lines have a plus sign. Select Reset to clear both fields and the result.
Find the text difference in paragraphs or short strings
Use this online diff checker for two drafts, paragraphs or short strings when you need to spot changed lines. It compares the text as pasted, line by line. A changed word within a line makes the whole old line appear removed and the whole new line appear added; this is not a word-by-word or semantic comparison.
Paste text, then review the result
The comparison runs locally in your browser. You can paste text copied from a TXT file or source code, but the tool does not open files, compare code repositories or validate syntax. Very long pastes or very large blocks of changes may be skipped rather than shown wrong; see the length limit below. Browser text fields can normalize line endings, so use a file-aware diff tool when exact newline bytes matter.
If you need words from a recording before comparing drafts, audio to text is a separate transcription service. It requires an account and uploads prepared audio for recognition.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compare texts online?
Paste the first version into Original text and the second into Changed text, then select Compare text. The result marks unchanged, removed and added lines. Edit either field and compare again to refresh the result.
Is this online text comparison tool free?
Yes. Comparing pasted plain text here is free, requires no account and runs in your browser without uploading your text.
Can I use this diff checker to compare words or strings?
You can paste short strings or paragraphs into the two fields, but the result compares whole lines. It does not highlight individual changed words or characters.
Can I compare TXT files or code files?
You can paste plain text from a TXT or code file into each field. This page does not open files, compare folders or repositories, or understand code syntax.
How much text can I compare?
You can compare up to 100,000 characters and 5,000 lines per field. The tool keeps longer pasted text in the field but declines the comparison. For a very large or heavily rewritten section, it may skip showing changes rather than guess wrong.
Does this check plagiarism or whether text was written by AI?
No. It shows line-level differences between the two versions you provide. It does not judge originality, meaning, plagiarism or AI authorship.
