When you’d want this

Speeding up works well for anything you’d normally skim: a long meeting recording, a lecture you’ve already half-heard, a podcast episode you want to get through faster. Slowing down helps with the opposite case. Set a fast talker to 0.75× when you’re taking notes by hand and can’t keep pace at full speed, or use it to transcribe by ear, learn a language from a native recording, or practice along with a piece of music.

Pitch stays where it belongs

The tool time-stretches the audio instead of simply replaying it faster or slower, so the pitch doesn’t shift. A voice sped up to 2× still sounds like a voice, not a chipmunk, and a voice slowed to 0.75× doesn’t turn into a slow-motion growl. That’s what makes the output usable for listening, not just technically “faster.”

Output

Every speed change is re-encoded to MP3 at 192 kbps, whatever format you started with. That keeps the download small and playable everywhere, at a bitrate high enough that the change in speed is the only thing you’ll notice.

Common pitfalls

Pushing speech too fast can hurt intelligibility before it hurts anything else. Dense, fast-talking audio sped up to 2× can become hard to follow even though the pitch is untouched. If a sped-up file is hard to understand, step back to 1.25× or 1.5× instead.

Privacy

Everything runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. A sensitive recording, like a private client call or an internal demo you’d rather not hand to a third party, stays a local file the whole time. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
